The Very Long Time Warranty

Page content

Not 100 years. Not forever. A very long time.

I don't offer a 100-year warranty or a lifetime guarantee. A belt is a natural product. A cowboy and an office worker will wear the same belt in completely different ways, and nobody can honestly tell you how long yours will last. A promise like that is a lie you just haven't found out about yet.

So here's mine: a very long time.

If it's flawed or defective, I'll replace it.

If something is wrong with how your belt was made, I'll replace it. That holds for a very long time, not just the first 30 days.

There isn't much that can go wrong.

Honestly, it's a leather strap.

  • The strap is a single piece of 8/10 oz English bridle. There are no layers glued together to peel apart.
  • There's no stitching, so there's nothing to unravel.
  • The buckle is solid brass. It isn't going to break.
  • Chicago screws hold it together, so parts can be swapped instead of the whole belt being thrown out.

What's actually come back to me

I've been making leather goods since 2019, across more than one brand. I've sold hundreds of pieces, maybe a few thousand.

The only things I've ever had to repair for wear are radio straps. They have a couple of metal parts that rub against each other, and metal on metal just wears.

Belts? Not one has come back because of a defect. There's nothing to go wrong if you make them right.

If you don't work in an extreme industry, realistically you're looking at 40 to 50 years of normal wear. That's my estimate from what I've seen, not a promise.

What the warranty doesn't cover

  • Normal wear. Scuffs, creases and darkening are patina, which is the leather doing its job.
  • Mold, or a belt that's been left wet or dirty until it's gross.
  • Damage from extremes, like smashing the buckle against the ground or using your belt as a tow strap.
  • Sizing. That's an exchange, not a warranty claim (see the refund policy).

I'll repair it. Repair, not replace.

Buying a belt to keep includes fixing it when something happens. That's why I build mine with Chicago screws instead of rivets.

As long as your belt isn't a biohazard, I'll repair it.

  • Buckles can be replaced.
  • Screws can be replaced.
  • Even cut leather can be stitched.

If your belt was damaged in a way the warranty doesn't cover, I'll still do what I can to repair it. Sometimes that comes at a cost. Most of the time it won't. I'll tell you before I start.

Shipping: we share the burden.

This applies to every warranty claim and every repair. You pay to ship it to me. I'll pay to ship it back.
